The Dance March

I am so captivated by the Native American people, the culture, the music, the wisdom, their appreciation of nature, their resiliency. By the things that they believe in, by everything that they teach, by their message of peace, their desire for harmonious living.  By far one of my favorite subjects to capture and share.

She politely asked "May I continue to work?" She's a loving grandmother, with a kind and gentle energy. She runs a little hardware store. And everything you need is there.

mingo's barber shop

I've been working on a still documentary for the for the past few months and will continue to do so at least throughout the summer. I probably will share some photographs along the journey. I kinda have an idea and a vision, so we will see where the wind blows me with this one.

Mingo's is a barber shop that is located at the bottom of Beatties Ford Rd. where it turns to Trade St. The owner of Mingo's is a young gentleman who's grandfather was the original owner of the shop and handed it down to him. He's the barber in the 3rd shot.

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing inside this shop because I am so much more drawn to things and places that have a history and a story in its aesthetics. Places like this give me a sense of nostalgia, although from a time period before my own and one I never experienced, it feels like home and I get lost there. I wish I was there.
