Her Mother

Although photographing the child, I am often times inspired by the mother. Her strength, her love, her beauty.

Sips of Sweetness

Honeysuckles are one of my childhood memories from Grandma's house. They grew on the fence in her backyard. The smell of them takes me back to playing out there with my brother and cousins, and little sips of sweetness.

Rainbow Light

We were playing in the autumn leaves.

I love rainbows.

I recently fell in love with rainbows after I encountered one that was beyond belief in its size and clarity. It was perfect.

Its audacity.

I've always appreciated the unique character that sun spots and other light artifacts create when they invade my lens. I'm also partial to my little cousin Mason admiring my big bro in the background.

Welcome to the World, Savannah

This is my best friend Tia, and her husband Mike's, new little angel, on her 3rd day of born life. I was there the day that Tia and Mike met. It's fascinating to see how relationships begin, grow, and culminate. It's kinda neat to see the merging of these two people that I love so much, into such an incredible physical form.

She is as beautiful as they are individually. As beautiful as their relationship. As beautiful as they are together.

She is Savannah Faith.

And she did such a good job on her 1st photo shoot. She sweetly put up with us for a very long time :)

Happy Birthday, Carrie Lee

An honoring of 77 years of life. Carrie Lee was born September 12th, but her birth certificate is marked September 14th because the doctor wasn't able to make his way to her to sign the certificate for 2 days. And so she celebrates her birthday twice.

I told her I really wanted to document her. And I was so gracious when she allowed. As we were chatting (I love the sound of her voice. I missed it. She loved me and took care of me when I was away from my family) her grandson and his family came by to visit. Here is "Granny", with her youngest great-grand baby. She has generated a lineage of 7 children, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

I've become so fascinated with life. Life is so precious, in all of its ages and stages. I love the energy of the young and the old. Young vibrant energy and aged calm energy. The vessels of the young waiting to be filled, and those of the aged overflowing of wisdom . Life should be esteemed, new life and old life alike. And much can be learned from both. Taking it in.

Leilani celebrates 1 year of life

If you've been following my blog, you would remember my precious little God Daughter's birth. I posted photos I took of her when she was about a week old. Well, now she's one year old! Her mother gave me the honor of naming her, and I chose the name Leilani, because in its Hawaiian origin, it means "Heavenly Child" and "Flower from Heaven". A "lei" is the familiar Hawaiian necklace of flowers, shells or feathers. It symbolizes regard and love for the person to whom it is given. Our flower from Heaven; Our Heavenly Child. Her first birthday party was a Luau themed celebration.
